Membership
in the Council on Children with
Disabilities
If you are a Fellow of the Academy who sees children
and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) in your
practice or has an interest in CYSHCN issues, you will
assuredly be an asset to the Council on Children with
Disabilities (COCWD).
Eligibility & Application
Membership in the COCWD is open to AAP Fellows and Specialty Fellows actively
involved or interested in disability issues for infants,
children and adolescents.
To join the COCWD, simply apply online:
1. Go to www.aap.org/moc and login with your AAP ID number and password.
2. Click on "Join A Section or Council" under "Get Involved".
3. Chose Council on Children with Disabilities, answer a few questions, and click "Submit". Upon submission, you will receive an invoice for the $25 annual COCWD dues. Membership in COCWD will be added upon receipt of dues payment.
Annual cost to maintain membership in the COCWD is $25.
Benefits
COCWD members receive the following benefits:
- Access to NCE COCWD-sponsored programs at no charge
above the registration fee;
- Triannual e-newsletter;
- Networking opportunities;
- Opportunities to participate in educational program
development;
- Opportunities to participate in policy statement development;
- Subscription to the COCWD's e-mail list (Listserv®),
to keep you informed about disability issues; (if you
are a COCWD member and would like to be added to the listserv,
email Stephanie Skipper at sskipper@aap.org:
include your name and email address).
- Opportunity to nominate colleagues for the annual Arnold
J. Capute Award; and
- Voting privileges for annual Executive Committee elections

Currently, only Fellows and Specialty Fellows are eligible for membership, however,
as we develop the COCWD, expansion of our membership through
the addition of affiliate member categories is a top priority,
as we recognize the importance of diverse partnerships related
to CYSHCN. If you are interested in receiving information
about affiliate membership, please e-mail Stephanie Skipper
sskipper@aap.org with your
e-mail address and contact information. As affiliate membership is established, we will be sure to
contact you with additional information.
For more information about the COCWD, please contact Stephanie
Skipper, MPH (sskipper@aap.org),
