The purpose of this meeting is to provide a forum for educators and researchers
in primary care medicine and other allied health fields, such as nursing and
pharmacy, to learn about recent research and educational program development
in ambulatory primary care patient safety. Modeled on a similar, highly-successful
conference held in 2003, this meeting will stimulate dissemination of research
and educational programs regarding primary care ambulatory patient safety to
physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other allied health professionals. The ultimate
goal is to ensure that ambulatory primary care settings are safe environments for

Opening Doors: A State of the Science Conference / Bethesda, Maryland
Children's Hospital, Boston and the ICI of UMass Boston, co-sponsored by the National Center of Medical Home Initiatives for Children with Special Needs.

For practitioners and researchers in rehabilitation, education and public policy; community-based organizations; and families and youth. This conference examines the state of the science related to early screening, community inclusion and transition for children and youth from underserved populations, including new immigrant communities. The conference is designed to optimize interaction among all participants. There will be many opportunities for discussion among researchers, clinicians, policy makers, parents, youth and community based organization leaders. We will share the lessons we are learning with the Opening Doors project in Boston as an example of community based participatory research.

AMCHP Data Training Workshops
AMCHP, in partnership with the CDC, DRH, and MCHB, will conduct four data training workshops on December 8-9, 2008, in Atlanta, Georgia.  The trainings serve as pre-cursors to the 14th Annual CDC MCH EPI Conference scheduled for December 10-12, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Atlanta-Ravinia.  All four of the following courses will be two-day comprehensive and hands-on data trainings:

1)  State Title V Program MCH Needs Assessment Practice  

2)  Scientific Writing: Communicating Research Investigation Effectively to Expedite Publication, Programmatic and Policy in Public Health

3)  Time Trend Analysis for MCH Outcomes in Large and Small Populations

4)  Using the Population Attributable Fraction (PAF) to Assess MCH Population Outcomes
