Family to Family Health Information
Centers
(F2F HICs)
Family to Family Health Information Centers (F2F HICs)
are non-profit federally funded organizations that assist
families of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN)
and the professionals who serve them. F2F HICs offer information, resources, and options for informed decision-making.1
F2F HICs are in a unique position to help families because they are typically run by parents of CYSCHN themselves, and as parents, they have traveled through the maze of services and programs designed to help CYSCHN.
F2F HICs are funded either by the Maternal
and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) or Centers for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)
at the federal Department of Health and Human Services. Additionally, some F2F HICs have obtained funding at a state level to conduct activities. Some F2F HICs are freestanding Family Voices organizations, some are part of other family-led organizations, and others are located at non-profit organizations that have a strong commitment to CYSHCN.
Family Voices, through the National Center for Family/Professional Partnerships and other smaller grants, provides training and technical assistance, training, and connections among F2F HICs and with other partnering organizations.
